Kyiv, 19 March 2025 – The Italian Government, through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) office in Kyiv, is launching a new €21 million call for proposals to deliver emergency humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian population most affected by the conflict. The interventions will be carried out by civil society organizations active in the country.
“This initiative confirms Italy’s concrete commitment to Ukraine: not just emergency relief, but strategic support that strengthens local institutions and communities. Engaging civil society – including many outstanding Italian organizations – means ensuring swift, targeted, and long-term assistance. Italy stands by Ukraine with concrete actions, based on in-depth knowledge of the territory and dialogue with those who live it every day,” stated Carlo Formosa, Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine.
This is the third AICS call for CSOs since the beginning of the war, reaffirming an intervention model that prioritizes the direct involvement of civil society and local authorities. Through the two previous initiatives, Italy funded 39 projects for a total of €57 million, providing humanitarian assistance and essential services to over one million people.
The initiative promotes aid localization, with the goal of responding to the needs of communities most affected by the war, especially those near the front line.
“The new call is the result of concrete field experience: over the past two years, we have seen how the involvement of CSOs and Ukrainian authorities ensures more effective and adaptable responses to the evolving conflict. It’s not just about resources, but about the approach: we work to ensure that aid is not fragmented or occasional, but part of a system that strategically addresses the real needs of communities,” added Pietro Pipi, Head of AICS Kyiv Office.
The deadline for submitting proposals is 11 May 2025 at 12:00 p.m.
